Chatham County hosts symposium to combat climate change

CHATHAM COUNTY, Ga. (WTGS) — Chatham County is taking efforts to combat climate change and sea-level rise with a symposium set to take place Tuesday, Sept. 14.

On Friday, Chatham County Chairman Chester Ellis said that county government officials and agencies are watching the increase in extreme weather events around the world, and they want to make sure the public is prepared for what’s to come.

“We want to make sure that the citizens of Chatham County get involved and get to know,” said Ellis. “A lot of folks have not taken sea rise, nor climate change, seriously. And it’s becoming a serious thing.”
