CHATHAM CO., Ga. (WTGS) — Georgia played as a battleground state this general election and the Trump Campaign said they plan to demand a recount.
Antwan T. Lang, member of Chatham County Board of Elections says the county plans to certify their election results today, but a recount cannot happen until every local board and county has done so. The state will then gather that information and certify the state’s results.
“Once the state’s results are certified, then we will see the margin whether it’s still .5 or whatever that margin would be. If it’s within that .5 range then president trump’s campaign can request a recount if they’d like,” Lang said.
To recount the votes, Lang said ballots will be fed back through a computerized device and the recertification process will start over again.
