CHATHAM COUNTY, Ga. (WTGS) — It’s a common sight on the news these days: protests in the streets turn violent.
While Savannah hasn’t dealt with those problems, law enforcement in our area is training to be able to handle it if needed.
Chatham County Police Chief Jeff Hadley said it’s an effort to keep the county safe.
“Our officers deserve to go home safe to their families and be protected as well as the community,” Hadley said.
Hadley’s department is partnering with the Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia Dept. of Corrections for training on how to de-escalate dangerous crowds and riot situations.
