SCCPSS graduation rate sets record, surpasses state and national rates

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTGS) — The Georgia Dept. of Education released 2019-20 graduation rates for the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System (SCCPSS) on Tuesday and district officials said the rates have surpassed state and national levels.

SCCPSS officials said its cohort graduation rate improved by nearly two percentage points over last year – rising from 87.8% to 89.7%.

For the sixth year in a row, the district said that the number surpasses the state rate of 83.8%.

District officials said the most recently published national rate is 85% from the 2017-18 school year.
