COVID-19 vaccine clinic, drive-through testing now in western Chatham County

CHATHAM COUNTY, Ga. (WTGS) — The Chatham County Health Department opened new COVID-19 testing and vaccination sites Thursday in western Chatham County.

“We all know that West Chatham has been has been one of the fastest growing areas in Chatham County. There’s a lot of people that live in this area, there’s a lot of homes in this area, there’s a lot of traffic in this area,” said Dr. Chris Rustin, administrator of the Chatham County Health Department.

The walk-in vaccine clinic is inside a Gulfstream building. The health department partnering with CORE to provide up to 1,200 vaccines per day.

Chatham County Health Department starts vaccinating 12-15-year-olds

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – The Federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA) expanded Pfizer’s emergency use authorization (EUA) Monday to include 12 through 15-year-olds.

In a press release, the FDA says the company’s vaccine meets criteria to amend the EUA for use on the age group.

Back to school? COVID vaccine shows promising results for 12- to 15-year-old students

In one more baby step that could be in the direction of returning to a new normal, drug manufacturer Pfizer announced Wednesday morning the promising results of its COVID vaccine on young teenagers.

The results of the study showed that in a Phase 3 trial among 2,260 12- to 15-year-olds in the United States, 18 in the placebo group showed symptoms of COVID-19; and none of the vaccinated group showed any signs of the virus.

On the surface this seems like more good news that will lead to schools fully reopening in the fall, but there still has to be some caution.

COVID might be here to stay and humans have to remain vigilant against its spread.
