SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTGS) — The Veterans Council of Chatham County will be hosting five different events to celebrate Veterans Day. On Sunday, they had their yearly Veterans Day Banquet where they honor the chosen veteran of the year.

The council was unsure about having the event this year. In order to stay socially distant, the event had a maximum of 100 people.

“It’s one of the events that all of our veterans, past veterans of the year, past chairman’s of the veterans council, they look forward to this event every year,” said Veterans Council of Chatham County Chairman Joe Higgins.

For those who will be attending the Veterans Day Parade in Port Wentworth on Veterans Day, he asks everyone to stay safe and bring a mask.
